Hiring your first marketer?

You can hire the
right marketer
and still lose their
first months.

I help you get clear on the job, choose the person, and work with you both on the marketing that follows.

First Marketing Hire & Support

A good hire is
the beginning.

Before we judge candidates, let’s get clear on the job. What do you most need this person to get done?

I help founder-led B2B companies answer that, assess the people who could do it, and get the work moving together once they join.

A role with a reason

What do we need this
person to get done?

Work out the first priority, the experience it needs and the support you can provide. Then review candidates’ work and ask questions that tell us how they would handle this job.

Already hired? We can begin with their start or early work, using the preparation you already have.

Marina, your marketing counterpart.

Hello, I’m Marina.

A marketing lead.
In your corner.

I’ve worked in marketing since 2009, across in-house, agency and independent roles. My particular strengths are customer research, positioning, content and copy.

I’ve also been the first hire. The founder had paid for help choosing a marketer; after I joined, we still had to work out what I was there to own. That experience is why my help continues after the hiring decision.

“Own marketing” needs to mean something on a Tuesday.

You work directly with me through the engagement.

The reasonable questions

Before
we talk.

Can you help us choose the person?

Yes. I help define what the role needs, review candidates’ work, join agreed interviews, and compare finalists. We agree where your search or recruiter ends and my marketing assessment begins. Candidate sourcing and placement are not assumed to be included.

Our marketer has already started. Is it too late?

No. We can begin with the start or early work, using the role definition and preparation you already have. If the appointment is struggling, a Reset may be the more useful starting point.

Do you help with actual marketing?

Yes. I do customer research, develop positioning and messaging, write core website and campaign copy, and help shape campaigns. I also brief specialists and review the work and results. We agree which pieces you need before starting; your team coordinates the specialists handling design, implementation and setup.

What if hiring takes longer than expected?

The proposal explains what happens if your hiring dates move: what we can continue, what waits, and when support with the new marketer begins. If marketing needs an owner during the gap, I can help as an interim lead.

How are scope and fees agreed?

The guide prices are listed above. We agree a fixed scope, your involvement, the support period and payment milestones in writing before work begins. See scope and pricing.
